Description
The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department. Responsibilities include selling and advising needed services to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Identify automotive problems and services by listening to customers’ description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems: conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules. Implement Service Work Bench to its fullest.
Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions.
Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customer's payment, including deductibles.
Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.
Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.
Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications.
Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Maintain XTime Check-In utilization above 95%
Maintain brand CSI or other measured component above regional average.
Maintain manufacturer certification.
Achieve a $50,000 in total sales per month or exceed individually assigned sales goal.
Maintain personal open RO count below 30, and ensures all receivables are collectable (warranty, insurance, and service contracts)
Requirements
Knowledge in Equipment Maintenance, Lifting, Problem Solving, Reporting Research Results, Quality Focus, Productivity, Estimating, Product Knowledge, Customer Service, Problem Solving, Safety Management
Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
Experience in operational use and maintenance of wide variety of hand power tools, shop tools, and automotive and electrical test equipment.
Understanding of basic automotive techniques related to repair and servicing of automobiles.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail.
Willingness to learn new and innovative automotive technologies.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting
Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
Work in a team-based environment and achieve common goals.
Dealer’s Management System(s), Outlook, and MS office.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
Duties are performed primarily at a desk in an office setting. Work includes frequent clerical and administrative responsibilities and interaction with managers and employees.
Prolonged periods of sitting.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
Occasional lifting, standing, crawling, reaching, use of stairs.
Occasional attendance at social gatherings.
Ability to travel occasionally.
