Overview The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department, selling and advising customers on needed services, and ensuring excellent customer rapport.
Responsibilities
Identify automotive problems and services by listening to customer descriptions, conducting inspections, taking test drives, checking maintenance records, and examining service schedules.
Verify warranty and service contract coverage, explain provisions and exclusions, and develop accurate estimates costing materials, supplies, and labor.
Prepare repair orders (RO) by describing discovered issues, obtaining approval signatures, and entering them into the service database.
Mantain customer rapport by explaining estimates, expected return dates, and arranging towing or temporary transportation when needed.
Record problems and planned corrective actions in automotive records.
Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and manufacturer publications.
Enhance organization reputation by taking ownership for new requests, adding value to work, and maintaining high CSI and other performance metrics.
Maintain XTime Check-In utilization above 95% and other brand certifications.
Achieve $50,000 in total sales per month or exceed individually assigned sales goals.
Keep personal open RO count below 30 and ensure all receivables are collectable (warranty, insurance, service contracts).
Requirements
Knowledge of equipment maintenance, lifting, problem solving, reporting, quality focus, productivity, estimating, product knowledge, and customer service.
Understanding of automotive repair techniques, parts, tools, and materials.
Experience with hand tools, shop tools, and automotive/electrical test equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail.
Willingness to learn new automotive technologies and to establish cooperative relationships.
Strong record keeping and reporting skills, multi‑tasking, organization, and deadline management.
Proficiency with Dealer Management Systems, Outlook, and MS Office.
Education / Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Regularly requires talking, listening, sitting, and hand use at a desk.
Includes clerical and administrative tasks with interactions across the dealership.
Prolonged sitting, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, standing, crawling, and use of stairs.
Occasional travel and attendance at social gatherings.

Valid Texas Driver’s License
Maintain a clean driving record
