Contract to Hire, Vista CA
Job Summary
The Buyer is responsible for coordinating activities involved in procuring goods and services—including raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies—to support company operations.
Responsibilities / Functions Purchasing & Planning
Determine required components and quantities for daily purchasing using composite pick lists, BOMs, current inventory positions, minimum order quantities, purchase history, reported shortages, and ADD+ON data.
Release orders on blanket purchase agreements and enter new purchase orders in ADD+ON based on daily requirements.
Analyze open purchase orders and shortages; expedite materials from suppliers as needed.
Supplier Coordination
Communicate with suppliers to obtain product and service information such as pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
Prepare purchase orders or purchase requests.
Review supplier proposals and negotiate contract pricing.
Discuss defective or non-conforming materials with suppliers to determine root causes and ensure corrective actions are taken.
Records & Data Management
Maintain manual or computerized procurement records, including purchased items or services, costs, delivery performance, quality, and inventory data.
Perform data entry and data management necessary to maintain accurate inventory and work order information in ADD+ON.
Other Functions
Maintain files on current suppliers, including supplier surveys, MRBI reports, schedule exception data, and other supplier performance documentation.
Purchase non-inventory items and equipment based on approved requisitions.
Assist with periodic physical inventories of raw materials and finished goods.
Resolve supplier issues related to invoicing and receiving discrepancies; issue debit memos when necessary.
Participate in internal ISO audits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Buyer.
Skills & Characteristics
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift equipment and cables as required, meeting maximum lifting requirements.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Travel and overtime may be required.
Work Environment
90% office work / 10% electrical and mechanical production environment.
