Job Summary The Department of English and Communication at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of English. The position is a 10‑month, tenure‑track, full‑time faculty position with appointment beginning August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree in English (or other appropriate discipline) and possess the expertise and necessary credentials to teach courses in composition and journalism.

ABAC is a residential state college located in Tifton, Georgia, named one of the best 100 small towns in America. The college offers associate and baccalaureate degrees and has an approximate enrollment of ~4000. The campus features a new state‑of‑the‑art media suite with broadcasting, audio, and print facilities.

The Department of English and Communication offers a Writing and Communication B.S. degree, a Certificate in Digital Media and Professional Communication, and multiple courses supporting ABAC's IMPACTS Core Curriculum. The Department also supports a dynamic assortment of student media opportunities, including The Stallion newspaper, Stallion TV, radio station WPLH, literary magazines Pegasus and Adroit, and Horseman Press—the only student‑staffed teaching press of its kind in Georgia. Preference will be given to candidates who are qualified and interested in serving as faculty advisor for The Stallion newspaper and/or Stallion TV.

The incumbent’s teaching load will consist of beginning composition courses and upper‑division courses such as technical writing, editing, rhetoric, introduction to broadcasting, introduction to mass media, news writing and reporting, advanced broadcasting, digital media creation and management, mass media industries, or writing for contemporary media. Experience with academic assessment is also preferred. The successful candidate is expected to be adept at the use of various instructional technologies. Courses may include traditional in‑class/on‑ground, hybrid, or online offerings. The position may require service to ABAC’s dual enrollment population at off‑campus sites, involving travel. Faculty at ABAC are evaluated on teaching, student success, scholarship and professional growth, and professional service.
