Meteorologist – Full‑Time Storm Warning Meteorologist
We are seeking a full‑time meteorologist with outstanding forecasting and communication skills to join our tight‑knit family of Storm Warning Meteorologists at the AccuWeather Severe Weather Center in Wichita, Kansas. We seek an energetic, driven, team‑oriented professional with a proactive work ethic. This fast‑paced environment aims to save lives, protect property, and help clients maximize weather‑related opportunities while minimizing risks.
Key Responsibilities
Utilize internal warning software to create customized, site‑specific hazardous weather warnings (tornado, wind, flash flood, hurricane, etc.) independent of government agencies.
Create hazardous weather forecast graphics and customized text discussions for transportation and other specialized clients across North America.
Engage in daily interaction with clients who need to make immediate operational weather‑related decisions.
Use internal computer applications to process meteorological data and make swift, accurate warning decisions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences.
Refined customer‑service skills.
Ability to meet strict deadlines.
Great attention to detail.
Ability to process meteorological data and make swift, accurate warning decisions.
Ability to collaborate professionally with other members of the forecasting team.
Willingness to work semi‑rotating shifts—including afternoons, evenings, overnights, weekends, and some holidays.
