Summary:
Performs direct coaching duties and limited administrative tasks as assigned by the Head Swim Coach.
Essential functions
Protect the safety and health of all swim team participants.
Assist with the swim team operations including practice plans and schedule, supervising the swim team participants, follow all Lancaster Summer League rules and procedures.
Assist with ensuring fair treatment of practice procedures and experiences.
Work with and assist the Head Swim Coach as necessary.
Related functions
Attends practices and meets for the swim team.
Attend Lancaster Summer Swim League meetings.
Assist with ensuring there are sufficient supplies and equipment to conduct swim meets. Make recommendations for any supply or equipment needs.
Physical Requirements
Ability to demonstrate physical fitness to include frequent light to occasional heavy lifting (up to 30 lbs.) standing, and walking for long periods of time, bending, pushing, and pulling.
Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently.
Ability to reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to talk, hear, and see.
Competencies
Ability to communicate township/department policies, rules, and regulations to all that use the facility.
Must be able to communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and other coaches.
Knows and understands emergency procedures.
Skills
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics.
Abilities
Ability to provide leadership, instruction, and motivation for participants.
Required Education and Experience
3 Years of competitive swim experience
Preferred Education and Experience
1 year Coaching Experience
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
