INSPECTOR V – GENERAL CONSTRUCTION – FACILITIES DIVISION – REGION VI LOCATION:

United States – Texas – Gatesville

EMPLOYEE STATUS:

Regular, Full-time, Non-exempt

PAY BASIS:

Monthly, $4,263.19 (Ret 2.5% Less)

JOB SUMMARY Performs advanced inspection work. Overseeing inspection programs, conducting inspections, and reviewing quality assurance to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and agency policies. Works with minimal supervision and utilizes independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reviews drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements, agency policies, codes, standards, and laws; informs staff of needed changes.

Inspects construction projects for quality of workmanship and materials; evaluates and recommends improvements; oversees inspection records and reports.

Ensures that authorized changes are incorporated into construction requirements and that proper documentation is prepared.

Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS Education, Experience, and Training 1. Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by CHEA or USDE. Major coursework in Industrial Technology or related field preferred. Each additional year of experience beyond the required two years may substitute for 30 semester hours on a year‑for‑year basis.

2. Two years full‑time, wage‑earning general construction or maintenance experience.

3. Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure as defined by state law.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of construction procedures, methods, and industry standards for roofing, window/door systems, and interior finishing.

Knowledge of state and federal construction safety codes, requirements, and programs.

Knowledge of structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and welding practices (preferred).

Knowledge of concrete, asphalt, and soil preparation and testing (preferred).

Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes, including EPA regulations (preferred).

Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations (preferred).

Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.

Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.

Skill in problem‑solving techniques.

Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.

Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.

Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand‑alone or local area network environment.

Skill to read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

Skill to organize, assign, and review the work of others.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, kneeling, pushing, stooping, climbing stairs, operating motor vehicles, and lifting 15‑44 lbs.

Work conditions include indoor and outdoor environments, proximity to moving machinery, loud or dusty areas, heat or cold exposure, uneven surfaces, heights, ladders, scaffolding, underground work, and travel by car, van, bus, or airplane.

Equipment used includes computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines, telephone, dolly, and automobile.
