DeSales University, in Center Valley, PA, is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts Salesian, Catholic university, under the leadership of the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales. Founded in 1965, the 550-acre suburban campus is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia and about 90 miles southwest of New York City. A total enrollment of nearly 3,500 includes undergraduate day and evening students, and graduate students. POSITION SUMMARY The Learning Specialist for Student Accessibility promotes an accessible and welcoming learning environment for students with disabilities through the development and delivery of programs to support enhanced learning strategies, organizational skills, and executive functioning skills; as well as individual student support and education regarding how to navigate higher education successfully, with particular emphasis on athletes, neurodiverse students and students who are linguistically diverse. The individual will also assist with test proctoring and contribute to the evaluation of documentation in determining eligibility for reasonable and appropriate accommodations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Higher Education program
Passionate about helping students to achieve academic success
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills, including the ability to learn and utilize software and other technology effectively
Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with a variety of state and federal laws, guidelines, and regulations
Schedule requires occasional evening and weekend hours
Sensitive to issues of ethnicity, disability and diversity
