Job Summary The Chabot – Las Positas Community College District seeks a PT Instructor, Machine Tool Technology to provide instruction on reading part prints, creating process plans, safe operation of manual and CNC lathes and mills, tool geometry, heat treatment, metallurgy, and surface grinding.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instruct students in fundamentals of machining on manual and/or CNC lathes and mills, including safety, efficient set‑ups, and calculation of feeds, speeds, depths, and material removal properties.
Maintain best shop practices for machine handling and maintenance: avoid machine damage and personal injury, maintain shop cleanliness, and manage tool check‑in/out.
Coordinate with colleagues and staff to maintain a high standard of education throughout the Machine Tool Technology Department.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree(s) or higher and two years of professional experience, or an associate degree(s) and six years of professional experience.
Evidence of understanding and responsiveness to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, and equity‑minded practices in the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications
Recent community college or lower‑division teaching experience.
Expertise in the courses to be taught.
Preferred software platform experience: MasterCAM and SolidWorks.
