Salary range:

The salary range for this position is $25,000 to $35,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Primary Responsibilities:

The key responsibility of the Events and Safety Council Manager is to be responsible for all Chamber events, including special and annual events. The position is also responsible for the success and oversight of the Ross County Safety Council.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

A self‑motivated, self‑confident, and results‑oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in abstract environments is required for this position. The applicant should demonstrate success in event management, possess strong negotiation skills, a strong sense of urgency, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional customer service skills, a professional, mature attitude, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are also necessary. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are expected.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree, business experience, experience in events management, must pass pre‑employment background check.

Applicants should be an engaged community member who either resides in or are committed to relocating to Ross County.

Work Schedule:

General office hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, but some evening and weekend meetings and events are also expected. This position can work remotely, but not exclusively.

Specific Duties:

Manages the events and safety council budgets to ensure adherence to the financial guidelines. Plans, monitors, and forecasts budgets related to the events and reports to the CEO and the board of directors the final details of each event.

Responsible for all chamber events organized to support the organization, including special and annual events such as the annual awards celebration and golf tournament.

Has full responsibility for each event, including its organization, preparation, finances, and logistics.

Able to assess event objectives and determine the most cost‑effective means for resources.

Oversees planning and logistics for all on‑site and off‑site organization meetings and events.

Attends all chamber events to ensure registration, check‑in, payment collection, and set up are appropriately handled.

Motivates and recruits volunteers.

Analyzes the event schedule and develops short‑ and long‑term strategies for resources.

Works closely with conference, meeting, and event sponsors to understand their objectives and requirements, and coordinates meeting logistics to meet them.

Establishes vendor relationships and preferred vendor pricing for all aspects of event planning.

Able to negotiate and persuade business partners and vendors to gain cooperation, make cost‑effective decisions, and achieve customer objectives.

Manages client, sponsor, and organization expectations with clear and persuasive communication.

Ensures set‑up, coordination, and execution of all chamber functions.

Produces invitations, thank‑you letters, and other correspondence to members, donors, and volunteers who support chamber events.

Provides support for any volunteer committee organized to develop and produce chamber special events.

Works with the Marketing and Communications Specialist to promote events and the Safety Council through all available media.

Assists Marketing and Communications Specialist as needed with the production of communication pieces for the Safety Council and other programs.

Other duties as assigned.
