Job Description AECOM seeks an experienced professional to lead the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Transportation Technology group in Denver, CO, with responsibilities extending to neighboring Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. This leader will serve as the state ITS/technology ambassador, support business development, manage project teams, and coordinate advanced technology initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a resilient ITS/Technology team.
Develop and maintain client relationships with state transportation agencies.
Identify project opportunities, develop pursuit strategies, and collaborate with client managers.
Maintain and expand local industry presence through professional organizations.
Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate large‑scale technical projects.
Serve in roles such as capture manager, project manager, technical leader, or quality control on local ITS projects.
Support production of technical deliverables—plans, specifications, estimates, reports, memorandums, etc.
Leverage expertise to expand business into neighboring states and serve as a subject‑matter expert on emerging transportation technologies.
Support strategic growth through business development, project pursuit, industry engagement, and targeted recruiting.
Coordinate work assignments across markets to balance workload and commitments.
Provide technical development and excellence support to peers.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience (or equivalent) including 2 years in leadership.
U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering; 15+ years of related experience and 5+ years in leadership preferred.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado.
Experience managing a team of transportation professionals.
Established external reputation in transportation technology solutions in Colorado or mountain states.
Active member of professional/industry organizations.
Experience selling to public‑sector agencies, especially ITS and emerging technology sectors.
Knowledge of ITS design, connected/automated vehicle systems, systems engineering, and TSMO.
Experience in proposal development and business development activities.
Strong communication, analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and organizational abilities.
Ability to balance multiple project responsibilities, budgets, and deadlines while maintaining professionalism.

Compensation Offered rate based on education, qualifications, experience, and location. Salary range: $145,000 – $185,000 per year.
