What to Expect As part of Tesla's Supplier Quality Team, the Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) Technician plays a critical role as a voice of Supply Chain within the Factory. The SQA Technician will be responsible for ensuring the production line is protected from disruption due to incoming supplier quality issues, while driving actions with suppliers. This cross functional role requires team members to work closely with Factory teams towards issue identification and containment, and with Suppliers and Supply Chain teams to drive issue resolution and corrective actions. As part of the Energy Mechanical team, this role supports mechanical parts for energy storage and charging industrial and residential applications with the goal of on-time delivery of high-quality component parts into Tesla's production processes.

Shift: 8:00am-5:00pm; Monday-Friday

What You'll Do

Support supplier quality performance at the Tesla factory through daily onsite work to support data collection, identify failure trends and confirm issue origination with communication to internal and external teams.

Participate in daily Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and investigate potential supplier quality issues within agreed timeframe, assign ownership of defects and support other teams and team members with complex or major issues which impact Tesla quality or productivity.

Own the containment activities for all supplier related issues by fast response including sorting/reworking parts when needed, creating Work Instructions, support the Quality Inspection (QI) Team members by training inspectors, conducting spot audits, and communicating daily the results of sorts and highlighting percentage of rejected parts.

Engage with Tesla SIE, Q E and suppliers on issuing Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) - developing accurate and effective short-term containment, long-term corrective actions with follow up and Verification of Effectiveness (VOE) to drive SCAR closure.

Coordinate return of samples to supplier for failure analysis, measurement at Tesla, or collection of additional information as required.

Perform line-side or real-time defect analysis utilizing basic metrology equipment, visual inspection, coordinate specialized testing, and communicate results with internal teams and the supplier.

What You'll Bring

3 + years of experience supporting sheet metal, stamping, machining or similar mechanical fabrication processes as a member of quality, manufacturing or process engineering teams; or the candidate will have led multiple team members in the production processes.

The SQA must have a basic understanding of Quality Systems (PPAP/APQP), inspection methods, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Specific training or demonstrated success in applying, analyzing, and reviewing quality problem solving methods such as fishbone diagrams, hypothesis testing, DoE, and 8D is a plus.

Ability to communicate and direct supplier and factory activities at an appropriate level, Self- motivated with the ability to work independently, seeking opportunities to improve part quality and overall efficiency in a fast-paced environment. Some technical writing and discussion ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner.

Expected Compensation $25.88 - $38.46/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
