Quality Technician, Megafactory (Night Shift) We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, team-oriented Quality Technician responsible for evaluating parts produced on various lines (electro‑mechanical components and subassemblies, body in white, welding, powder coat, general/final assembly) and end‑of‑line testing in a high‑speed environment. Technicians will flag production parts found to be suspect or non‑conforming, remove them from the line, and support engineering with containment activities through clean‑point to ensure Tesla standards are met. They must be prepared to elevate concerns to the appropriate party and always promote a culture of quality. The purpose of the role is to minimize the number of defective parts that are sent to downstream departments and assist multiple teams in maintaining and improving overall part quality, yielding beneficial results and higher efficiency for Tesla.

What You’ll Do

Guide production teams to properly disposition parts as good for use, need repair, or scrap, with ability to lift and walk with objects up to 30 pounds in weight.

Document and communicate any identified defects. Escalate concerns that are not being properly resolved in your immediate work area.

Comprehend current production quality standards and determine if ongoing production meets those standards.

Communicate emerging and trending quality issues to prevent negative impact to the factory.

Construct and maintain strong relationships with members of all nearby teams.

Provide day‑to‑day production support on quality concerns and develop and implement short‑ and long‑term countermeasures to quality problems while maintaining operation efficiency.

Align with the Quality engineering team to support incoming and in‑process quality activities.

What You’ll Bring

Ability to identify and differentiate between several defect types and determine severity and required response.

Ability to perform detailed daily record‑keeping and reporting of quality issues that will be referenced by technicians, engineers, and management.

Ability to communicate new defect information to team leadership and counterparts.

Ability to build solid relationships with several teams in multiple departments.

Effective communication in English, both verbal and written.

Critical thinking skills to engage and troubleshoot new quality issues.

Experience with basic measurement and inspection tools is a plus (calipers, torque wrenches, gauges, measuring tape, etc.).

Physical Requirements

Perform physically demanding work for extended periods, up to 12 hours a day.

Stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain.

Frequently lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including carrying 20 lbs. up and down stairs.

Frequently bend, lift and reach to install parts.

Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods, up to 12 hours/day.

Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures.

Identify issues in a work process and respond to safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing.

Expected Compensation $25.88 – $38.46 per hour + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay may vary based on location, skills and experience.
