Maintenance Technician – Whale Communications
We are hiring a Maintenance Technician to perform technical maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on production lines. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and requires a 1st shift (7:00 am-3:30 pm). This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position.
Base Pay Range $32.00–$42.00 per hour, based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities
Adhere to all safety standards set by Health‑Ade and OSHA.
Resolve day‑to‑day technical problems on production lines, inspecting, testing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment to ensure reliable operation.
Complete work orders and address issues at all company locations; locate and inventory parts from the storeroom; operate forklift, genie boom, and scissor lift as needed.
Perform preventive maintenance work orders and recommend revisions to improve reliability.
Communicate machine improvement suggestions, maintenance needs, training opportunities, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
Use the CMMS to create, manage, and document all work; review the written quality of maintenance work orders for completeness and accuracy.
Compile shift information for shift “pass‑down” meetings.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager, and Director of Quality & Technical Services in root‑cause failure analysis.
Maintain good housekeeping and safe work practices; keep the maintenance area clean and safe.
Organize tools and parts; order non‑stocked parts and arrange for material and equipment during unscheduled conditions.
Ensure the quality, duration, and thoroughness of all work within jurisdiction.
Perform other duties/projects as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years in food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods.
Mechanical/electrical experience maintaining production equipment in a continuous production environment.
Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
Knowledge and compliance with confined space entry procedures, NFPA 70E, and lockout procedures.
Willingness to work flexible shifts if needed to support the business.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Krones bottling lines.
Experience with KHS Can Fillers and Seamers.
Experience with high‑speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products).
Experience with basic electrical systems, compressors, aminos, conveyors, PLCs, pneumatics, and other automated machinery.
Experience with preventative maintenance and computerized maintenance management systems.
Physical Demands
Lift up to 50 pounds.
Bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to service machinery.
Prolonged standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders.
Access all production areas, including climbing 20‑ft caged ladders and ducking under conveyors.
Work in freezer, cold, wet, humid, noisy conditions (34 °F or below).
Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and moving mechanical parts.
