Overview
Sr. Maintenance Technician role at Niagara Bottling. The Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. The role acts as a subject matter expert on production equipment and supports continuous improvement, training, and best practices aligned with Niagara’s maintenance strategies. Responsibilities
Adhere to and enforce the highest standards in safety and good manufacturing practices plant-wide. Train and lead Operators, Mechanics and Supervisors on technical procedures related to high-speed bottle manufacturing and packaging. Collaborate with plant leadership to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and resolution of recurring problems. Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize downtime and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence. Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross-functional problems. Analyze issues using available software systems to drive throughput performance. Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment to like-new status during planned downtime. Transfer knowledge to Niagara team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in designated focus areas. Provide expertise in areas of bottling production specialization including: Blow molding (PET processing, machine setup, mold changes, quality inspection systems) Filling/capping, beverage processing methods, cap feeding, vision inspections, laser date coders, quality/sanitation standards, conveying systems Labeling technology, roll-fed and/or cut-and-stack, machine setup, hot-melt gluing systems, conveying systems Dry-end packaging (case packers, conveyors, robotic palletizers, stretch wrappers) and machine set-up for all pack size changes Common OEMs for production equipment: Krones, Sidel, KHS, Sacmi, Tech Long Transfer knowledge to Niagara team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in injection technology: Husky injection molding machines and related auxiliary systems Mold systems, hot runner and cold half maintenance, wear inspection Plastic processing at high speeds with tight tolerances and AA control Create SOPs for troubleshooting and upload to BDA system; maintain machine reliability Maintain regular attendance and on-call availability as essential for uptime Stand/walk in manufacturing environment; lift up to 50 lbs; possess own toolbox Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: 6 years – experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment 6 years – experience in a relevant position 4 years – experience managing people/projects Experience may include a combination of work experience and education Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics Experience with shop equipment (hydraulic/mechanical presses, grinders, drill presses, mills, lathes, and power tools) Proficient with precision measuring equipment Willingness to lead and train others in a plant or machine center Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years – experience in maintenance manufacturing environment 10+ years – experience in the specific position 6 years – experience managing people/projects 4 years in blow molding, injection molding, packaging, or beverage 4 years of experience with packaging/bottling equipment (Krones, Husky, Sidel, etc.) 1 year – experience leading and developing others on equipment functionality and repair 2 years – experience creating process improvements or CI initiatives Skilled in fabrication (MIG/TIG/Stick) and electrical systems (480VAC & 24VDC) Ability to read process and instrumentation schematics; experience with VFDs, servo motors/controllers, and communication networks Education
