The Utah Department of Health and Human Services Division of Finance & Administration (DFA) is actively seeking a highly motivated Financial Analyst I to provide crucial financial management support within our vital DFA. Responsibilities

Reviewing fiscal operations to ensure integrity, accuracy, and control of data;

Preparing and presenting financial reports utilizing MS Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables;

Ensuring financial compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and department rules, policies, standards and practices;

Reconciling financial allocations and reports;

Analyzing, summarizing, and reviewing data and interpreting results and making recommendations;

Researching and reviewing financial records, transactions, and documentation;

Coordinating with division program staff to complete assigned duties;

Managing accounting or budget activities and providing fiscal information.

Qualifications

Accounting Acumen: Deep understanding of accounting principles;

Analytical Prowess: Strong analytical skills to dissect complex data and uncover valuable insights;

Innovation Champion: Problem-solver and implementer of groundbreaking process improvements;

Communication Dynamo: Articulate complex financial information with clarity and impact, both in writing and verbally;

Collaborative Spirit: Thrive in a team environment, interacting with colleagues and stakeholders with sensitivity, tact, and professionalism;

Academic Edge: Preference may be given to applicants holding or pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Supplemental Information

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

DHRM rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current State of Utah employees.
