Job Summary The Ground Handling – Classroom & OJT Trainer delivers classroom and on‑the‑job training, airline‑specific training, sign‑offs and performance evaluation for station staff. The role ensures compliance with Swissport and customer service standards, maintains proficiency and certification, and acts as a temporary supervisor for new hires.
Job Responsibilities
Deliver training in instructor‑led, virtual instructor‑led, e‑learning, self‑directed and on‑the‑job formats.
Oversee practical Ground Handling Classroom & OJT, including final assessment and sign‑off.
Follow Swissport Corporate and NOAM Training Policy, Procedures, SSOW and SOP.
Monitor and promote best practices, conduct internal audits and maintain quality assurance.
Assess training effectiveness, keep staff competent and confident.
Maintain compliance levels and communicate regularly with SMEs for training relevance.
Serve as role model, provide coaching, give objective feedback, and report training activity.
Support nearby stations and collaborate with Regional Training Managers, local HR and Operations for new‑hire and recurrent training.
Facilitate initial and recurrent training in accordance with global and local standards.
Administer examinations and reports to maintain compliance.
Assist with New Hire tracking and on‑the‑job coaching programs.
Maintain currency in the operation.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of industry experience in airline Ground Handling operations.
Extensive Ramp Handling experience.
High School Diploma or equivalent, with experience resolving complex problems and managing competing priorities.
Travel up to 10%; ability to travel within the United States and Canada.
Pass security clearance and hold a valid driver’s license.
Strong communication skills, ability to influence without authority.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Customer‑service oriented.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including off‑peak hours.
Knowledge of adult learning processes, instructional design and evaluation methodologies (preferred).
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
Skill in creating and delivering dynamic presentations, slide decks and training materials.
Physical Demands The role requires sitting, talking, standing, walking, handling, reaching, stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
