Experience Excellent communication skills, problem solving ability, medical terminology, knowledge/experience with solid organ and bone marrow transplant billing processes, financial data analysis, computer skills (MS Office and MS Access a must)

Education Some college preferred
Experience 3 years of experience in healthcare, billing, follow up, or similar duties Transplant experience/exposure a plus. Knowledge of managed care contracts as related to transplant reimbursement Experience working with Medicare Procedure Codes
JOB DUTIES
Follows transplant patient process through all relevant phases while maintaining an Access database of all pertinent information used for payment tracking, UNOS_reports, consulting pool and physician payments.
Deliver to Patient Accounting all claims required to document all facility and physician services performed during any global period.
Continually follow up with physician offices to ensure all provider charges have been captured and subsequently linked/sent to the Transplant Center for processing.
Work with Patient Accounting to ensure that all transplant claims that are being held have been released for payment from the system.
Ensure all invoices have been received, and subsequently forwarded to payors, for organ acquisition/harvesting, blood products, remaining pass-through items.
Audit all payments due contracted and non-contractedin staffing physicians by phase. Tracking reimbursement of living donor charges if reimbursed separately. Work with finance to ensure that funds due non-contracted physicians are paid directly from consulting pool.
Prepare/distribute monthly/quarterly/yearly reports regarding transplant cases to supervisor and transplant 5% chairpersons comparing: Total charges, length of stay by type, expected reimbursement, variances and comments. Aid in resolving patient specific financial issues by working with Financial Coordinators, Customer Service, Payor Relations, Patient Accounting, Patients and Payors.
Oversee protocol to account for costs and evaluation of Medicare primary kidney transplant recipients - for reporting on Medicare cost report.
Performs other duties as assigned.
