Court Appointed Special Advocates of Rutherford County is committed to advocating for foster children in our Juvenile Court. Our mission is to provide trained volunteer advocates to represent and promote the best interests of abused, neglected, or dependent children brought before the Juvenile Court. The advocates will work to ensure that the Court recognizes the rights of these children to safe, permanent, and loving homes.

Purpose:

To supervise volunteers in all capacities of their volunteer duties, to supervise certain cases waiting for a volunteer, and to train new volunteers.

Job Responsibilities Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Attend all DCS meetings, court hearings, foster care review boards that your volunteer case load attends.

Attend all DCS meetings, court hearings, foster care review boards for your non-volunteer case load.

Meet with volunteer case load at least monthly.

Be able to assist and engage volunteers in their volunteer duties through emailing, phone calls, or in-person meetings.

Be able to assist volunteers with client home visits

Train volunteers using National Casa’s 30-hour pre-service volunteer training program whenever the program has a training class. This includes leading the class in lecture, discussions, and all activities.

Attend in-service trainings to remain up to date on child welfare issues.

Time Management

Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Would prefer a bachelor’s level degree in a social work, criminal justice, child development, or a non-profit management field.

Experience in juvenile justice, child welfare, or related areas preferred.

Outstanding communication abilities, both in writing and speaking, with an ability for engaging with diverse groups of people.

Salary Range: 37,800

Working Hours: Monday- Friday at 40 hours a week
