Base pay range: $75,000.00/yr - $133,000.00/yr.
Summary The Proposal Lead will be responsible for ensuring successful submission of proposals that meet both business goals and the customer’s requirements on time. The individual will oversee (but not manage) a team of individual contributors and assemble the proposal itself while ensuring documented processes are utilized to increase on time submission via standard work is key. As well, the individual will be responsible for reporting on proposals in‑work, submitted, and lost.
Position Duties
Provide a structure for the on-time submission of proposals.
Oversee communications and information flow between internal/external entities as it relates to a proposal.
Fully own and drive the proposal process by coordinating and directing all activities necessary to submit a proposal as well as managing the team for each proposal – including those in shared services – essentially, program manage proposals.
Ensure each proposal stays true to the initially identified bid strategy and highlights possible deviations for resolution.
Analyse newly received RFQs, RFIs, etc. for applicability, requirements, etc. and document in a logical and organized fashion what is needed to be done by whom and by when.
Manage revision history and file structure for traceability of proposals.
Facilitate proposal kick‑off meetings with the support of the team.
Oversee the creation of compliance matrices, the authoring of technical proposal documents, and the engineering resources who design the proposed product.
Ensure appropriate involvement of supply chain & operations disciplines in proposal creation.
Manage the historical records of proposals as they are submitted to allow for up‑to‑date and accurate reporting on various metrics.
Work closely with Product Management and Sales to ensure the proposal meets the business’ & customers’ expectations.
Tightly link the proposal process with the New Product Introduction Phase Gate process upon award.
Generate proposal content, ranging from technical proposal, matrices, cost, and business case summaries.
Other Duties
Maintain a positive outlook in the face of any potential challenges – keeping both internal and external Customer Delight at the forefront of any interaction.
Ensure Trade Compliance practices are followed and in place for all customers within their realm. This includes Transaction Due Diligence, Technical Data Transfer, ensuring product classification is completed, export license screening, applying for export licenses if necessary, and other relevant tasks.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Understand and live by Company’s ethics and business conduct policies.
Qualifications & Experience
Previously successfully implemented (a plus) or managed a strong proposal process in a business.
Ability to comfortably, clearly, concisely interface with all levels of contributors to proposals, external sales individuals, and the customer.
Ability to manage multiple tasks & proposals simultaneously.
Advanced Microsoft Office capabilities (including Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel).
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule.
Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
Technical or engineering background a plus.
Solid Works know‑how a plus.
Strong problem‑solving skills.
Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.
Proactive, positive and customer focused attitude.
Physical Demands
Standing, sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stooping or kneeling to install computer equipment; light to moderate lifting; ability to cope with stress of working in a busy and demanding office; regular, predictable attendance.
Pay Compensation Range for this Exempt: $75,000 - $133,000.
