THE OPPORTUNITY As a Graphic Designer on our in‑house Creative Team, you’ll shape how customers experience Deseret Book across every channel—print and digital, in‑store and online. Your work will span catalogs, email and social campaigns, website and e‑commerce graphics, paid and out‑of‑home media, in‑store signage, window displays, and more. Beyond execution, you’ll participate in brainstorming and concepting sessions that inform design decisions across the organization’s marketing efforts, contributing to brand and campaign development from the ground up.
You’ll collaborate closely with our Project Manager, Senior Graphic Designer, Marketing Art Director, and Creative Director—learning from experienced mentors while bringing your own creative perspective to the table. This role offers the rare chance to work across a wide variety of mediums within one team, making it an ideal opportunity for a designer looking to broaden their skills and build a meaningful creative career. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE 80% Graphic Design Development & Execution:
Create and develop compelling visual concepts and layouts across a range of media platforms in support of Deseret Book’s brand and marketing efforts.
Retail and in‑store signage for Deseret Book physical locations
Digital and print display ads
Email templates and graphics
Social media graphics for both organic and paid social channels
Event promotion assets
Website graphics and assets
Catalog layouts and graphics
20% Strategy & Creative Ability:
Collaboration:
Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand project objectives, incorporate feedback, and deliver design concepts that align with brand standards—all while effectively managing multiple projects and competing deadlines.
Visual Communication:
Deliver engaging, brand‑consistent visuals that effectively communicate ideas and resonate with Deseret Book’s target audience.
Software Proficiency:
Expertly use the Adobe Creative Suite—primarily Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator—to develop high‑quality creative assets.
Production & Output:
Prepare final files for digital or print distribution, ensuring accuracy in layout, formatting, color, resolution, and overall quality.
Industry Awareness:
Stay informed on design trends and emerging tools, while maintaining alignment with the Deseret Book brand identity.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
1–3+ years as a graphic designer in marketing design or certification in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Fine Arts, or Advertising or equivalent practical experience.
An impressive design portfolio that displays the ability to conceptualize and execute impactful designs for email, social, web, and print platforms.
Ability to use design to strategically achieve goals, thinking of the user and customer first.
Great sense of layout, composition, and color.
Strong eye for typography and layout in design.
An understanding of marketing principles and how to apply them to design.
Strong understanding of design principles and keen awareness of current and emerging design trends, practices, and innovations.
Ability to brainstorm, share design perspective, work across teams, and bring an idea to life.
Highly proficient in Adobe Create Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
Ability to follow branding guidelines and specs.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Great interpersonal skills; work well in team environment.
High level of initiative and follow‑through.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Ability to adapt to ebbs and flows in workload.
