Responsibilities The
Make Ready Supervisor
is responsible for leading and managing a team of Make Ready Engineers supporting outside plant (OSP) projects across joint-use environments. This role ensures all make-ready engineering work complies with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), utility and municipal standards, and customer requirements. The Supervisor will oversee quality, production, and delivery while serving as a key point of contact between internal teams, customers, utilities, and joint-use partners.
Supervise, mentor, and lead a team of Make Ready Engineers with a strong emphasis on quality, accuracy, and compliance
Ensure all engineering designs and recommendations comply with NESC, utility standards, local ordinances, and customer specifications
Oversee Outside Plant (OSP) engineering activities including pole replacements, rearrangements, communications space compliance, and clearance requirements
Review and approve make-ready designs, pole loading analyses, and joint-use applications prior to customer or utility submission
Oversee and/or directly support the creation of complete pole permit packages for submission to applicable pole‑owning entities (electric utilities, municipalities, and joint‑use authorities), ensuring all required engineering, documentation, and compliance materials are included
Utilize and manage work within joint‑use software platforms including NJUNS, SPANS, AldenOne, and similar systems
Oversee and validate pole loading analysis using tools such as O-CALC, or equivalent software
Serve as a primary liaison with customers, utilities, municipalities, and internal stakeholders
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with customer expectations
Track production metrics, quality performance, and project status; provide regular reporting to management and customers
Address escalations, resolve technical or compliance issues, and support dispute resolution related to make-ready designs
Support process improvements, training initiatives, and standardization of engineering practices
Assist with workload planning, staffing needs, and performance evaluations
Qualifications About You:
Minimum 5+ years of experience in Telecommunications Make Ready Engineering or OSP Engineering
Demonstrated expert‑level understanding of NESC compliance as it relates to joint‑use pole environments
Strong Outside Plant (OSP) knowledge including aerial and underground telecom infrastructure
Prior experience leading, supervising, or mentoring engineering teams
Hands‑on experience with joint‑use software systems such as NJUNS, SPANS, AldenOne, or similar
Proven experience performing and reviewing pole loading analysis using O‑CALC or equivalent tools
Strong organizational, communication, and customer‑facing skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Work Environment
Local candidates only for a hybrid work schedule requiring reporting to the Somerset office as needed
Work in an TEAM environment
Work a schedule that parallels the hours of the work schedule of our customer
