UD Associate
We are seeking a dedicated UD Associate to join our team at our manufacturing site in Charlotte, specializing in the production of soft armor. For over six decades, we have been at the forefront of developing advanced fiber reinforcements and prepregs for various markets, including aerospace, defense, energy, industrial, and protective sectors. With a strong presence in North America and Europe, we are well-equipped to meet the diverse needs of our clients.
Responsibilities
Operate Uni-Directional (UD) textile machines safely and efficiently to meet quality and production targets.
Set up, operate, clean up, and shut down UD machines and related equipment according to standard operating procedures.
Stage materials using barcoding and labeling, ensuring accurate inventory management during runs.
Customize equipment settings based on customer and product requirements.
Follow precise testing procedures as per specifications and customer requirements.
Plan and organize work to meet production and schedule demands.
Operate hoists and pallet jacks, conducting daily inspections.
Utilize technology, including ERP systems and MS Office, to manage material and product specifications and enter production data.
Visually inspect products to ensure they meet all specifications.
Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, collaborating with support as needed.
Raise NCRs for non-conforming materials and work with Quality and Engineering teams to implement solutions.
Package, label, and prepare finished products for shipping.
Provide progress and changeover reports to shift supervisors.
Ensure adherence to 5S and lean principles in daily activities.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, addressing any unsafe conditions immediately.
Essential Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
2+ years' experience in a manufacturing production environment.
Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently.
Precise manual dexterity.
Proficient in English reading and speaking.
Basic math skills, particularly in measurement.
Dependable and effective team player willing to cross-train.
Excellent attention to detail and safety adherence.
Commitment to work schedule and overtime as required.
Capability to move, bend, push, and lift up to 40 lbs.
Basic computer skills for data entry.
Adherence to safety requirements and use of personal protective equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
3+ years of machine operating experience.
Experience with lamination, machine setup, quality inspection, HMI, conveyor systems, and quality assurance.
Familiarity with inspection tools such as calipers.

Work Environment The role is set in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels, where personalized protective equipment is provided. It requires continuous standing, walking, and involves considerable lifting and loading, assisted by appropriate tools and machines. The work schedule follows a 7a-7p 2x2x3 rotation, with openings available on both A and B shifts.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of CHARLOTTE, NC.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.37 - $21.37/hr.
