What is it like to work in Subcontract Administration?

What does this role look like?

The Subcontract Administrator is responsible for the end‑to‑end administration of non‑prime (sub‑tier) subcontracts that support various LM Space Programs. The role serves as the primary liaison between external suppliers, while being an internal POC for program teams, engineering, legal/compliance and finance ensuring timely, compliant, and value driven subcontract execution. The role ensures that all subcontract documents are created, reviewed, approved, executed, and maintained in compliance with company policy, federal acquisition regulations, and customer contractual requirements. This role will prepare subcontractor Request for Proposal (RFP) packages, conduct bidders’ list to ensure competitive outreach, develop evaluation criteria, and analyze and evaluate proposals to determine best‑value subcontractor for Program. Additionally, the role includes all execution tasks supporting negotiating subcontract terms and conditions and price, supporting all authorization to proceed (ATP) tasks for multiple contract types through hardware delivery.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education,

3+ years of professional experience in Supply Chain Management (i.e Procurement, Subcontract Administration, Subcontract Management, Negotiation, and/or Category Management),

Prior experience with FAR and DFARS.

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of space hardware products and familiarity with the LM Space Programs.

Strong business acumen and the ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced team environment and work well under pressure.

Proven exceptional strategic communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, program and executive management, with an ability to persuade and motivate action.

Previous professional experience in Subcontract Management and/or Project Management.

Demonstrated skills to drive culture change supporting enterprise initiatives (i.e. hardware commonization and insertion into programs, shift to “we vs. me” behaviors).

You bring positivity and enthusiasm to every assignment. Possess effective relationship‑building skills with peers, stakeholders, and suppliers.

Implement continuous improvement leading to improved team and supplier performance.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $69,900 – $123,280. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Pay Rate (major metro):

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $80,400 – $139,380. This position is incentive plan eligible.
