UNC REX Digestive Healthcare has been providing high‑quality gastroenterology care to patients in the Raleigh area for more than 50 years. It is one of the most advanced gastroenterology practices in Raleigh and throughout the Wake County area. UNC REX Digestive is seeking GI Hospitalists to join their team.
Job Responsibilities
General GI; EUS/ERCP beneficial but not required
Affiliated cancer center with onsite pathology, surgery, radiology and full‑time admitting general medicine service
Consultation‑only service
Full‑time APP coverage to perform all consultations, daily follow‑up and procedure scheduling
Physician supervision of APPs and endoscopic procedures
Endoscopy suites – 5
Total procedures – 8‑12 daily
Practice Highlights
Large community hospital in Raleigh, NC
Typical 3‑week schedule:
7 days of general GI inpatient coverage with APP support
5 days of general GI procedures
One week off
1:4 call, 1:4 weekend coverage
No outpatient responsibilities
Approximately 3‑4 months off per year

Reasoning Ability: High‑level quantitative and qualitative reasoning required for diagnosis
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations North Carolina Medical License, DEA License, BLS/ACLS certification preferred. Board certified in Gastroenterology.
Physical Demands Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, etc.; occasionally required to stand, walk, kneel, bend and reach. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment Typical medical office setting with moderate noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
