ABOUT TURN COMMUNITY SERVICES TURN Community Services was founded in 1973 by a group of parents who wanted better services for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. With locations from Brigham City to St. George, we offer a full range of services including day programs, residential living, art center programs, summer camp, and supported employment opportunities.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DAY PROGRAM ASSISTANT This Assistant position is over the Tabernacle Day Program in St. George. This program currently serves 17 individuals and has room to grow. The staffing at this program consists for a Program Coordinator, Program Assistant and 5 plus DSPs. The clients in this program love to be engaged in various activities in the program as well as spending lots of time experiencing adventures outside of their center such as bowling, swimming, visiting national parks and going on picnics. The assistant will help the Coordinator to plan and execute specific activities in these areas.
This position will assist individuals in the program with personal hygiene care, frequent assistance with moving or transfers, which includes lifting up to 50 pounds, behavior management, medical needs, social skills, communication, safety, recreation and leisure and various other skills to learn independence in their lives. The Program Assistant is responsible to plan and execute specific activities on a daily basis in the above areas both in center and by following the community schedule.
POSITION SCHEDULE The availability needed for this position is Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. The typical schedule is 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. In addition, flexibility to work outside of the typical schedule will be needed for program and agency needs and events.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DAY PROGRAM ASSISTANT
6+ months of experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities
Ability to complete required training within 3 months of employment
Personal and reliable transportation
Valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and a clean driving record
Willing to drive large program buses and vans as well as being willing to train new employees to drive large vehicles
Functional computer skills
Ability to produce and review typed business letters, reports, and numerical records
Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviors would be a plus! Are you organized, detail-oriented, and reliable?
