The Middle Academy Associate Teacher serves as a daily substitute and instructional coverage support, providing in-classroom instruction across grades 5-8 and content areas as needed. This role ensures that scholar learning, routines, and expectations remain consistent during teacher absences.
Coverage assignments may vary day to day and will be determined by school needs.
Responsibilities
Provide daily classroom coverage for Middle Academy teachers across content areas, following provided instructional frameworks with fidelity.
Deliver whole group instruction, small group support, or independent work facilitation as outlined in instructional frameworks.
Maintain classroom structure, routines, and expectations aligned to Resurgence Hall culture systems, including behavior management procedures and use of DeansList.
Ensure scholar safety, engagement, and instructional continuity throughout the school day.
Adapt quickly to different classroom environments, grade levels, and instructional expectations.
Support scholars academically and behaviorally during coverage assignments.
Communicate key classroom notes, scholar concerns, and completion of lessons to instructional leaders or classroom teachers as needed.
Support assessment administration when assigned during coverage days.
Provide coverage support during arrival, dismissal, Community Connections, Leader Lounge, and/or lunch blocks.
Maintain accurate attendance and required documentation in school systems such as PowerSchool and DeansList.
When coverage is not required, deliver assigned instruction including small group instruction, intervention blocks, or targeted whole group teaching assignments based on Middle Academy needs.
Build positive relationships with scholars, staff, and families through professionalism and consistency.
Support schoolwide and grade level initiatives such as Parent University Nights, Black History Month, Awards Ceremonies, and other community events.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Director of Culture and Instruction.
Qualifications/Certification All candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree. 1 Year of teaching experience is required and/or related work or leadership experience.
Prior Experience- Demonstrated commitment to work with under-resourced communities and/or children in a school or similar setting highly preferred. Sense of humility, urgency, and interest in growing. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
