This position is currently located in Juneau. The position may be in Anchorage or Juneau, depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate.
What you will be doing
Lead day-to-day RHTP operations and guide implementation across the Department of Health, other state agencies, and community partners.
Serve as a primary representative of the program in public forums and partner meetings, including with Tribal Health Organizations, providers, communities, and statewide associations.
Supervise and mentor three Project Coordinators supporting initiative implementation and statewide activities.
Coordinate directly with federal partners, serving as the Project Director responsible for ensuring Alaska meets cooperative agreement requirements, reporting expectations, audit standards, and key milestones.
Oversee evaluation and reporting activities to track program outcomes and support continuous improvement.
Manage major contractors, including the statewide subrecipient administrator, and evaluation, reporting, and technical assistance partners.
Provide leadership and problem‑solving support to ensure funded projects advance program goals and improve access and outcomes for rural Alaskans.

The working environment you can expect This is a time‑limited position funded through the five‑year Rural Health Transformation Program cooperative agreement. The role is expected to run for the full project period.
This position may be based in Anchorage or Juneau within the Department of Health Commissioner’s Office. Anchorage staff work from the Frontier Building at 3601 C Street, and Juneau staff work in the Alaska Office Building downtown, with parking available at each location. Hybrid telework is available as appropriate, though in‑office collaboration will be an important part of the role.
The day‑to‑day environment is fast‑paced, team‑oriented, and highly collaborative, with a mix of independent work, cross‑agency coordination, and engagement with external partners. Travel will be required, including visits to rural communities and regional hubs, as well as occasional trips for federal or statewide meetings.

Plans, coordinates, and monitors programs to ensure that federal, state, and/or local government program requirements and plans are met, providing professional consultation on the specialized services of the program or associated project(s).

Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising or mentoring staff

Experience managing large federal or grant‑funded programs and overseeing subrecipient or subgrant processes
Strong strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
