As a Licensed Health Technician, you play a vital role in ensuring student health, safety, and access to learning. You provide essential medical care and specialized physical health support to students, working under the guidance of a credentialed School Nurse. From responding to everyday health needs to administering specialized medical procedures, your work ensures students are safe, supported, and able to fully participate in their education. Through collaboration, sound judgment, and compassionate care, you help create a healthy, welcoming school environment that supports student well-being and academic success. You are detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with School Nurses, families, and school staff. You communicate clearly and respectfully, maintain confidentiality, and understand the importance of compliance with health regulations. You are committed to student safety, equity, and care in a culturally diverse school community.
As a Licensed Health Technician, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Providing first aid and medical care to ensure student health, safety, and readiness to learn.
Delivering specialized physical health care—including catheterization, G‑tube feeding and care, insulin administration, emergency medications, and health observations—as directed by a credentialed School Nurse.
Providing occasional toileting support for students, as needed.
Communicating calmly, clearly, and respectfully with students, families, school staff, and district partners.
Exercising sound judgment and ensuring actions align with district policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Maintaining accurate, timely health records and reports using district-supported technology systems.
Monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations and mandates.
Assisting with coordination and implementation of student health programs and screenings, as appropriate.
Maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming health office environment.
Prioritizing tasks effectively and adapting quickly to changing student health needs.
Maintaining current licensure, certifications, and knowledge appropriate to nursing practice.
Collaborating with school and district staff to support campus, department, and district goals.
Maintaining regular and punctual attendance to fully meet job responsibilities.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
What you need for this position:
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Resume and Letter of Introduction outlining desire and qualifications for this position
Graduation from an accredited school or vocational or registered nursing
Current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurses or a licensed that exceeds the requirements of the LVN License
CPR / First Aid Certificate
Valid California Driver's License
