We are seeking a
Detention Officer

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Processes and cares for subjects who are in custody for court proceedings by providing meals and contacting staff for medical issues, if needed.
Verifying the identification of persons in custody.
Fingerprinting prisoners.
Completes a variety of reports, prisoner counts, facility and vehicle inspections as part of documenting daily shift activities.
Observes, inspects, and monitors jail conditions, including the cleanliness and orderliness of jail cells, to comply with operating and safety standards and safeguard against potential hazards.
Transports prisoners to and from the county jail and municipal courts.
Detention Officer Trainee Qualifications Starting rate: $24.21 per hour
High school diploma or GED.
Must be 18 years of age and able to successfully complete a specified Corrections/Detention Officer Basic Training Academy.
Ability to comply with Arizona P.O.S.T. firearms requirements.
Works in a 24/7 environment and may be required to work overtime, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Detention Officer II Qualifications Starting Range: $25.89 – $37.54 per hour
High school diploma or GED.
Two years of experience handling prisoners as a Detention Officer, Corrections Officer, Police Officer, or related classification, or one year as a Town of Gilbert Detention Transport Trainee.
Must be 21 years of age and able to comply with Arizona P.O.S.T. firearms requirements.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Valid Arizona driver’s license.
Works in a 24/7 environment and may be required to work overtime, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a thorough criminal justice background investigation, including psychological and polygraph examinations.
