Safety Supervisor Overview As a Safety Supervisor, you will lead efforts to create a secure working environment for our team, collaborating with site management and reporting to the Facilities Safety Manager to safeguard employees, colleagues, and the public. This safety‑sensitive position is vital to maintaining a hazard‑free workplace and promoting a proactive safety culture.
Position Summary The Construction Safety Supervisor implements, enforces, and continuously improves the company’s safety program on active construction sites. The role ensures compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations while promoting a strong, proactive safety culture. The Safety Supervisor works closely with project management, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and workers to identify hazards, reduce risk, and prevent injuries and incidents.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Implementation
Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and site‑specific safety plans
Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, state regulations, and client safety requirements
Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses (JHAs/AHAs)
Verify corrective actions are implemented and documented
Field Oversight & Hazard Control
Identify unsafe acts and conditions and take immediate corrective action
Monitor high‑risk activities (fall protection, scaffolding, cranes, lifts, hot work, confined space, etc.)
Enforce Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions exist
Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, equipment, and fall protection systems
Training & Communication
Conduct site safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors
Deliver toolbox talks, safety meetings, and task‑specific training
Support bilingual safety communication (English/Spanish as applicable)
Coach supervisors and workers on safe work practices
Incident Management
Respond to incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
Lead or support incident investigations and root‑cause analysis
Prepare incident reports and recommend preventive measures
Track safety metrics and trends
Coordination & Leadership
Work collaboratively with project management and field leadership
Interface with clients, inspectors, and regulatory agencies during site visits
Promote a positive safety culture through leadership, accountability, and engagement
Support emergency response planning and drills
Required Qualifications
3+ years of construction safety experience (field‑based preferred)
Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926)
Experience with safety inspections, JHAs, and incident investigations
Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Certifications
OSHA 30‑Hour Construction / OSHA 510 (required)
OSHA 500, CHST (preferred)
First Aid / CPR / AED
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to work in active construction environments
Ability to walk jobsites, climb ladders/scaffolds, and work at heights
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Occasional travel to multiple job sites and schedule adaptation
