CNC Machinist Job Overview
Mayfly Outdoors is seeking an experienced
CNC Machinist
to support both prototype and production machining operations. This role involves
CNC milling and turning , multi-axis machining, setup, programming edits, inspection, and close collaboration with Engineering and Quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
Machine
high-precision metal components
for prototype and recurring production work
Set up, operate, and prove out
CNC mills and CNC lathes , including multi-axis equipment
Read and interpret
blueprints, CAD models, and work instructions
Perform
first article and in-process inspections
using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators
Monitor and adjust
feeds, speeds, and offsets
to maintain tight tolerances
Modify and edit
G-code programs
to meet part specifications
Troubleshoot machining issues and collaborate with
Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality
teams
Support
new product launches , process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in proper operating condition
Deburr, clean, and inspect finished parts
Operate standard shop equipment (band saws, grinders, etc.)
Follow work orders and routing through ERP systems (NetSuite, Infor)
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of professional
CNC machining experience
Experience running
multi-axis and multi-tasking CNC machines
Ability to read and modify
G-code
and adjust offsets (programming experience preferred)
Experience with a variety of CNC equipment, including
Mori and Multis machinery
Strong understanding of
cutting tools, tooling selection, speeds, and feeds
Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection tools
Strong blueprint reading and GD&T fundamentals
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-oriented shop
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift up to
50 lbs
infrequently
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and climbing
Exposure to
noise, fumes, and odors
consistent with a manufacturing environment
Education & Schedule
High school diploma or equivalent
required
Schedule:
Monday – Friday
Day shift with
night shift coverage one week per month
Overtime as required based on production needs
Compensation & Classification
Hourly, Non-Exempt, Full-Time
