Kennel Assistant PetVet Care Centers is currently seeking a Kennel Assistant to join their team. Position Overview The Kennel Assistant supports veterinarians and technicians by cleaning and maintaining equipment; feeding, exercising, restraining, and handling pets. This role is essential to an efficient, quality‑care organization dedicated to exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Provides compassionate care to pets.

Feeds animals as prescribed, records appetites, water intake, fecal, and urine production.

Recognizes and reports unusual conditions or abnormal behaviors; monitors pets for signs of distress or disease.

Assists veterinarians and technicians with pet restraint.

Maintains the cleanliness of the hospital daily; cleans equipment and facilities using chemicals and supplies, ensuring safe use of chemicals.

Follows a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing all cages, runs, wards, and related areas; changes litter boxes and food/water bowls.

Completes the weekly and monthly chore list to maintain hospital cleanliness, equipment, and overall appearance.

Prioritizes tasks efficiently, maintains kennel and hospital laundry, and provides patients with fresh, clean bedding when appropriate.

Walks patients on schedule and follows oral and written directions.

Performs other duties as assigned and remains professional and courteous to clients and coworkers while handling multiple tasks with interruptions.

Communicates health recommendations to clients and deals with difficult or aggressive patients effectively, ensuring safety for pet, coworker, and self.

Performs other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications (Required)

High school diploma or GED.

May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.

This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion.

Tasks may include standing for long periods, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Moderately physically demanding work up to 50 pounds.

Some experience working at a kennel or animal hospital.

Schedule

Monday–Friday: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM with 1.5‑hour lunch and two off days during the week.

Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM then 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

Sunday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM then 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
