Position Overview
The
Nutrition Services Cook
is responsible for preparing and serving
well-balanced, nutritious meals
in accordance with
USDA requirements
and local health regulations. This role supports daily meal operations, special events, and holidays while maintaining high standards of
food quality ,
safety , and
sanitation . Key Responsibilities
Plan and/or follow weekly menus consisting of
nutritious, well-balanced meals
that meet USDA standards Prepare appetizing meals and snacks while ensuring proper
taste and temperature Transport food between facilities while maintaining
quality and safety Inspect food for
quality and quantity
prior to service Prepare meals for
special events and holidays Take proactive steps to
minimize food waste Perform kitchen
set‑up and clean‑up , adhering to sanitation and Board of Health guidelines Open and close the kitchen and ensure food is
properly stored Order and maintain food and kitchen supplies in collaboration with the Program Director Build and maintain effective relationships with
food suppliers Participate in regular supervision meetings and come prepared Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with
3+ years
of relevant work experience Documented training in
nutrition and menu planning
in an institutional setting Ability to provide required
health and safety documentation
(e.g., ServSafe, Allergy Awareness) Ability to work effectively with a
substance abuse treatment population
in a sensitive manner Interest in and willingness to work in a
multicultural environment Preferred Qualifications
Valid driver’s license in good standing About GTT
