Overview
The Security Officer III is directly responsible for providing a safe and secure environment and assisting patients, visitors, staff, and others. The role involves active patrols, responding to service calls, crime deterrence, prevention, and maintaining a guest‑relations oriented attitude. The position also handles incident investigation, reporting, and documentation. Responsibilities
Ensures that security‑sensitive areas are properly secured. Monitors camera systems and uses cameras to assist in investigations. Observes and reports on security and safety issues. Reports equipment alarms to responsible parties. Checks functionality of card access devices and doors. Conducts smoking patrols and enforces Center policies. Conducts investigations and completes written reports on suspected criminal activity, workplace violence, employee misconduct, slip, trip, and fall incidents. Responds to calls for service of medical assistance, employee terminations, patient security, patient medication transport. Responds to reported crimes in progress and provides assistance to law enforcement, critical incidents, and duress alarms. Credentials and Qualifications
High School Education/GED required. A minimum of five (5) years of security experience in a hospital setting is required. Law enforcement, military service, or military police experience may be substituted on a one‑for‑one basis. A valid Florida driver’s license is required upon hire. Maintain a current driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications
7 years of law enforcement experience. Supervisory experience in law enforcement or a hospital security setting. Investigative experience. Law Enforcement Investigations experience. Experience as a supervisor. Experience working with video monitoring technology. Experience with report writing software. IAHSS Basic and Advanced Certifications. Seniority Level
