Pay: Local: $50.00/hr Non-Local: $50.00/hr + $145/day per diem Shift: Full-Time, 40 hrs/week

We are hiring experienced Pipe Welders in Newport News, VA to support high-spec pipe welding on naval and industrial projects. The Pipe Welder role requires proficiency in GTAW/SMAW (with FCAW as needed) on carbon and stainless steel, strict adherence to WPS requirements, and demonstrated competency in root, hot, and cap passes for code-quality pipe welding.

Responsibilities

Weld pipe using GTAW, SMAW, and FCAW (as required) per WPS and job specifications.

Maintain proper purge, interpass temperatures, and weld cleanliness.

Execute high-quality root, hot, and cap passes that meet QA and NDT requirements.

Support NDT inspections including VT, RT, and PT.

Perform weld repairs as directed by QA and supervision.

Requirements

Successful recent pipe weld test (6G preferred).

Strong knowledge of joint prep, consumables, purge requirements, and pipe welding techniques.

Ability to read WPS, welding symbols, and technical drawings.

HS Diploma or GED.

Must pass background check and drug screening.

Ability to work in physically demanding shipyard environments.
