Position Summary The CNC Maintenance Mechanic Technician 3 or 4 conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of machinery and equipment associated with machine operations.

Shift Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm. Occasionally on call for weekends.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities Level 3

Maintain and repair CNC machines, mill, lathes, bar feeders, and related automation to ensure proper operating condition

Perform advanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair including spindles, turrets, ball screws, bearings, and alignment

Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems including pumps, valves, hoses, and gear boxes.

Diagnose and resolve NC/CNC mechanical and basic electrical / control issues using schematics and diagnostic tools

Replace and install electrical components such as sensors, switches, relays, contactors, and fuses

Perform preventative maintenance tasks per manufacturer guidelines

Support facility maintenance activities including plumbing and general building repairs

Operate powered industrial equipment including hoists and lifts

Read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics

Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues

Work based on a sense of urgency with machine down conditions

Follow daily and weekly work orders under the direction of supervision to prioritize maintenance and repair activities

Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair CNC machines including 3 and 4 axis vertical Mills, conventional CNC lathes, and multi-axis CNC mill-turn machines.

Perform routine and preventative maintenance by inspecting oil and coolant levels; clearing ducts and cavities of debris; inspecting hoses, belts, seals, and similar items for wear; chip removal; adjustment of machines to recommended settings as needed

Maintain machines, machine pallets, tool carousels, and surrounding areas in a clean and orderly manner

Perform special projects and other duties as required

Level 4 All Level 3 Duties plus:

Perform all level duties at an expert level

Lead advanced troubleshooting, repair, rebuild, and optimization of all mechanical, electrical, electronic, and automated systems

Diagnose and repair PLCs, HMIs, CNC controls, servo systems, drives, and control circuits

Assist in planning, installation, and modification of industrial equipment and electrical systems

Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to lower- level maintenance technicians

Analyze recurring equipment failures, determine root cause, and implement corrective and preventive actions

Required Skills/Experience

Familiar with hand-held tools such as drills; able to operate drill press, mill, and lathe when required; light welding and fabrication as required

Blueprint and schematic reading, basic shop math, General Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T); familiar with metric and English systems of measurement

General Tier II level aerospace machining and assembly concepts

Good manual dexterity with ability to maintain close tolerances

Capable of using a variety of manufacturing tools and measuring devices

Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others

Attention to detail

Willingness to learn and, as required, help and/or train others

High School Diploma or equivalent

6-10 years Aerospace or mechanical experience preferred - Level 3

10+ years Aerospace or mechanical experience preferred - Level 4

Can work without supervision

Physical Activities Required to Perform Responsibilities The responsibilities of the position are performed in a general office, manufacturing and/or plant floor, warehouse and/or stockroom, outdoor environment. This position is infrequently exposed to wet, humid conditions, and all outdoor weather conditions. Physical hazards such as working near mechanical parts, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, risk of electric shock would be found in performing the required responsibilities of the position. Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment as needed, must be worn to eliminate the risks associated with these hazards. Travel is not required for this position.

Ability to: walk regularly, sit infrequently, hear/listen carefully infrequently, climb and/or balance infrequently, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl infrequently, twist infrequently at the trunk or neck, bend infrequently, reach with hands and arms infrequently, taste and/ use sense of smell infrequently, use hands to manipulate, handle and/or feel in the act of performing the required responsibilities of the position. Must be able to: lift and carry up to 35 pounds infrequently.

Visual acuity needed for close detail work, clarity with distance, distinction with color, peripheral observation up and down/left and right, depth perception for distance and spatial relationships, sharp focus of objects brought into line of sight. Mental dexterity needed to work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness.
