Lead Inventory Control Specialist

Role Overview The Lead Inventory Control Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of inventory across all stockroom and production areas. This position leads cycle counting activities, investigates discrepancies, directs and trains Inventory Control Specialists, and partners with cross‑functional teams to improve processes. The role ensures accurate, timely inventory data to support efficient material flow and production success.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and execute daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts across all inventory areas with Inventory Control Specialists.
Investigate inventory variances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure alignment between physical inventory counts and ERP system (IFS) data.
Provide real‑time inventory reporting and insights to stakeholders.
Support stockroom and production personnel in inventory‑related transactions and troubleshooting.
Develop, maintain, and enforce inventory control policies and procedures.
Train, coach, and mentor team members on proper inventory handling and documentation practices.
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to drive inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment.
Qualifications Required
3+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse, or stockroom operations.
Understanding of inventory control principles, including cycle counting, variance investigation, and lot/serial tracking.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems (IFS preferred).
Forklift certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and data accuracy.
Ability to lead and mentor others while working collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred
Prior experience in a lead or supervisory inventory role.
Background in manufacturing or distribution environments.
Leadership and team development skills.
Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
Analytical thinker with problem‑solving capabilities.

Working Environment The position entails working within an industrial production facility specializing in the manufacturing of refrigeration and HVAC equipment. Employees operate in an environment where they may encounter moving mechanical components and vehicular traffic. Some areas of the workplace may exhibit elevated noise levels. Variations in working hours may occur due to fluctuations in production demands across different seasons.
Physical Demands Employees may need to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. Physical tasks include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, bending, twisting, and putting on PPE such as safety glasses. Frequently the role requires lifting 10–20 lbs, occasionally 21–50 lbs, and sometimes 51–100 lbs. Push/pull activities up to 40 lbs are common. Additional physical requirements include adequate vision and hearing, and the ability to wear personal protective equipment.
