Summary of Job Duties The Parent and Family Programs (P&F) Graduate Assistant supports professional staff members in planning, implementing and assessing P&F programs and services. The Graduate Assistant(s) work closely on the implementation of major P&F programmatic areas including large‑scale parent and family events, family weekend, homecoming, tailgates, regional outreach events and graduation ceremonies. The role requires a student‑centered, administratively sound, task‑oriented, relationship‑oriented mindset, problem‑solving skills, the ability to work autonomously as well as with a team, proficiency with computers, small and large group facilitation, strong customer‑service skills and the ability to work successfully with a variety of constituents. This position will develop UA Career‑Ready skills such as Career & Self Development, Teamwork, Communication, and Professionalism. Regular, reliable, and non‑disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Successful enrollment in a graduate‑degree seeking program at the University of Arkansas.

Minimum undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.

Preferred Qualifications

Undergraduate experience in event planning, student staff training & development, and student organization leadership experience.

M.Ed. in Higher Education (HIED)

Ed.D. in Education (HIED)

Ed.S. in Education (EDUC)

M.S. in Marketing (WCOB)

M.Ed. in Adult Education (ADED)

Federal Work Study Requirement Federal Work Study award not required.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Amount: $19,260 for 50% appointed, 12‑month master’s seeking GA position.

In‑state and out‑of‑state tuition waivered.

12‑month Graduate Assistant’s summer class tuition waived.

Professional Development Funds (dependent on resources available to the hiring department and based on the GA’s performance evaluation).

Hours and Schedule

The position is a 20‑hour per week in‑person commitment.

Weekly hours are worked between 8 am‑5 pm, Monday through Friday.

May require working some nights and weekends.
