What We Do This is an exciting opportunity for a paralegal or legal professional to support the Corporate Underwriting Department and underwriting leadership throughout the country. This is a support position that will have a stimulating cross section of participating in the creation of underwriting policies, legislative analysis and regulatory engagement. The position will assist with the drafting of underwriting communications and policies, legislative tracking and evaluation and participating in regulatory compliance for insurance forms and rates. This position is ideal for a highly organized candidate that enjoys writing and editing while helping underwriting leadership respond to issues effectively and efficiently. It is an excellent opportunity for a candidate that desires to expand the candidate's skillset and knowledge about real estate.

What You'll Do

Draft and edit national and state level underwriting communications

Assist with the tracking, monitoring and analysis of legislative activity in all 50 states that relate to the conveyance and mortgaging of real estate. Provide underwriting leadership with recommendations regarding pending legislation

Draft and edit policy manuals, rate manuals and similar documents filed with various regulatory bodies

Provide guidance to local underwriting leadership regarding form and rate manuals

Review and assess court decisions that affect the conveyance and mortgaging of real estate

Collect and collate legal research and information from a wide variety of sources

Perform research and analysis on supporting data and information needed regarding various business issues of the organization

Compile data from legal digests, encyclopedias, practice manuals, etc.

Assist with the development and coordination of state-level advocacy strategies

Assemble, proof, and edit drafts of underwriting communications, advocacy strategies, legal research presentations, etc.

Draft documents for rate and form filings and provide guidance on rate and form matters

Provide other administrative support to underwriting department

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's degree preferred

Completion of a paralegal program preferred

3-5 years of professional experience as a Paralegal

Paralegal certification preferred

Outstanding writing and editing skills

Intermediate Excel proficiency required

Ability to adapt to new technology tools for collaboration and information sharing

General knowledge of the legislative process

Strong research and summarization skills

Detail-oriented with excellent time management

Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills

Salary Range: $30.08 - $41.78Hourly

This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
