Job Description Paralegal (Products/Asbestos) Position: Direct Hire Location: Saint Louis, MO (downtown). Hours: M – F (8 to 5). Schedule: Flexible work schedules, currently working in a hybrid working environment. Salary: $65K. Status: Must be a US citizen. Education: 4 Year Degree in Legal Studies or 4 Year Bachelor’s Degree with a Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience. Summary: Our client is seeking to hire an experienced litigation paralegal with 3+ years’ experience in litigation supporting a team of attorneys in our products liability practice for our St. Louis office.

Duties

Assist attorneys in all phases of products liability litigation, with an emphasis in asbestos defense, including case intake, investigation, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and post-trial activities.

Review, organize, and summarize various types of records, including medical records, incident reports, plaintiff fact sheets, work histories, deposition transcripts, and other case-related documents.

Draft legal documents such as pleadings, answers, motions, subpoenas, and discovery requests and responses.

Coordinate, schedule, and prepare attorneys for meetings, depositions with experts and witnesses, and court appearances.

Prepare subpoenas, authorizations, and document production logs.

Prepare and maintain detailed case chronologies, exposure analyses, and product identification summaries.

Conduct factual and legal research to support case strategy.

Conduct research to locate expert witnesses.

Prepare exhibits and other materials for hearings, mediations, and trials.

Support attorneys in trial preparation and attend trial, as necessary.

Support attorneys in settlement negotiations, including preparation of settlement documents and releases.

Communicate professionally with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and other third parties.

Track case deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.

Skills Needed

4 Year Degree in Legal Studies or 4 Year Bachelor’s Degree with a Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience.

Knowledge of legal principles and practices at a level normally acquired through formal paralegal training.

Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.

Ability to proofread material for contextual, grammatical, typographic, or spelling errors.

Ability to review, organize, analyze, and summarize facts and documents.

Excellent communication and writing skills.

Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Products.

Proficient in document management and case management software.

Ability to travel to private and public buildings, locally or nationwide, via private or public transportation to assist attorney in representing clients.
