Primary Objective
Performs complex mechanical duties and a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy. Installs, maintains and replaces electronic programmable controllers in a manufacturing environment.
Major Functions & Scope Troubleshoot PLCs using handheld device or laptop.
Design and redesign PLC and operator panel programs.
Format hard drives and install for computer setup and PC applications.
Install, maintain or repair equipment for generation, distribution or utilization of electrical energy.
Locate and diagnose trouble in electrical systems or equipment using blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.
Compute loading requirements for wiring and electrical equipment.
Maintain knowledge of serial port communication systems, VFDs and process control instrumentation devices (thermocouples, pressure switches, etc).
Use and maintain servomotors and drive units.
Continuously review area for ideas that drive productivity and reduce costs; propose and execute improvements.
Use a variety of electrician’s tools including measuring and testing instruments.
Lead projects and complete them successfully, returning equipment to production safely and efficiently.
Keep work area safe, clean and organized.
Experience and Knowledge Required High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of electrical code.
Associate degree in industrial electronics preferred.
4+ years industrial maintenance experience and 2 years industrial electrical experience; formal PLC training preferred.
Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office).
Key Competencies Ability to read blueprints.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLCs.
Score 80% or better on the Industrial Maintenance exam.
Ability to read and understand procedures in English.
Ability to test motors and electrical circuits using a voltmeter and ammeter.
In‑depth knowledge of LGV equipment and operation.
