The Patient Access Senior Representative demonstrates strong customer service orientation while handling all business functions in an assigned area: reception, scheduling, and registering patients for appointments and/or procedures. The role also includes greeting patients; securing appropriate patient information; ensuring registration data is correct; validating insurance eligibility; entering information into appropriate systems; collecting co‑pay if applicable; and assisting with financial counseling and clearance as necessary. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Continued Employment: N/A. Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of previous patient scheduling/registration work experience in a healthcare setting. Strong customer service skills and patient/customer centered focus in a positive manner in all situations. Education
High school diploma or equivalent Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or closely related field from an accredited program Independent Actions Required
Able to cross cover all Patient access functions within the department and/or clinic. Functions in a self‑directed manner to accomplish routine activities. Responsible for orienting and training new hires to service area. Notifies supervisor, immediately, of issues involving violation of VCUHS policies or procedures. Job duties may include access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies. Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides training, mentorship, and assists in onboarding of new members on the team. Additional Position Requirements
Depending on the assigned area, may be required to work off‑shifts and/or weekend and holidays. May be considered part of essential staffing, depending on the assigned area. Physical Requirements
Physical: Lifting less than 20 lbs. Activities: Prolonged sitting, Walking (distance). Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking.
