Overview The quality assurance technician ensures that products meet established quality standards, including reliability, usability, and performance, and adhere to the quality management system, ISO standards, and customer specifications. The role involves inspecting and testing products through various stages of production to blueprint specifications and tolerances.
Location & Hours Oberlin, Ohio – onsite. Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Essential Functions
Read production instructions, processes, and procedures, including interpreting and translating engineering designs and documentation.
Utilize Precision Measuring Instruments (PMI) such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Serve as subject matter expert for calibration, measurement device training, nonconformance evaluation, material certificates of conformance, first article, first-piece, and source inspections.
Ensure all manufactured products conform to specifications, inspections, tolerances, and quality meet or exceed customer requirements.
Maintain accurate and complete records for all measurement devices.
Ensure testing equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing rework and waste, and imputing data into a quality database.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain to identify root causes, resolve quality issues, and improve processes.
Assist with new product release activities, including PPAPs, First Article Inspections, work instruction creation and maintenance, and quality production policies.
Support the QA and Production team with internal and supplier audits.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Understanding of ISO requirements and audits.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high‑quality standards.
Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and standards.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, including GD&T features.
Proficient in the use of quality inspection equipment and software.
Work Environment
Primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Requires standing for extended periods and ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in quality assurance or a related field is preferred.
Three years of experience in quality assurance, including inspection, blueprint reading, measurement devices, and calibration. Experience with customer and material certifications and quality forms is required.
