Responsibilities

Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or standards in order to inspect or test product throughout the manufacturing processes to determine if it is fit for conformance or customer requirements. This can include dimensional, attribute, performance, mechanical or chemical characteristics.

Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.

Documents reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards where and when required.

Supports calibration of tools and gauges as required.

Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.

Operates various types of measurement equipment required to evaluate product conformance (e.g. coordinate measuring machines, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, various gauges such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, etc.).

Leads and/or supports gauge R&R or related measurement system analysis activities as required.

Coordinates activities related to Material Review Board (MRB) or supports as directed.

Leads containment activities and/or supports sorting activities as requested for external or internal sorts as directed by the quality department leadership.

Leads or supports audits as requested by quality department. This includes but is not limited to various ISO audits as well as product audits at various stages of the manufacturing process.

Reports directly to the Quality Manager.

Responsible for material or product safety of others.

Education and/or Experience:

ISO/IATF experience. Requires a vast knowledge of quality concepts, computer skills (Excel, Word, Minitab), blueprints, production part approval process (PPAP), statistical techniques, metrology and calibration, inspection and test, quality audits and preventive/corrective action. Equal to 2 years college or 3 years experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply mathematical concepts to the degree necessary.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to determine product status based on test & inspection results.

Other Qualifications:

Must have or be willing to learn blueprint reading applicable to manufacturing of metals, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), statistical process control (SPC), measurement techniques (metrology), computer application basics (Windows, spreadsheets, etc.), coordinate measuring machine applications (CMM–Romer), ability to work with people (team player).

Job Specific Duties

Perform gauge calibrations, millipore testing, production part approval process (PPAP), computer communications and assisting Quality Manager, as directed with IMDS.

Use tools and equipment such as computer, micrometers, linear gauges, optical comparators, calipers, microscopes, surface plates, force gauges, etc.
