Job description
Responsibilities
Assembly: Cut, strip, crimp, solder, and terminate wires and connectors per IPC-620 workmanship standards.
Documentation: Interpret and follow assembly drawings, wire lists, BOMs, schematics, and work instructions.
Testing: Perform continuity and functional tests using fixtures and meters to ensure quality.
Preparation: Prepare wires, tinning, and apply epoxies/adhesives as needed.
Tool Operation: Use hand/power tools, crimp presses, wire twisters, and test equipment.
Quality: Maintain high-quality workmanship, applying identification and labels.
Environment: Keep work area clean, safe, and organized.
Collaboration: Work with engineers/supervisors to resolve issues. Act as subject matter expert for all aspects of 620 compliance.
Requirements
Proven experience in cable/wire harness assembly.
Strong knowledge or certification in IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards (Class 2 or 3 often required).
Proficiency in soldering (RoHS/non-RoHS, leaded/lead-free) and crimping.
Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, schematics, and BOMs.
Familiarity with electrical testing equipment (continuity testers, etc.).
Detail-oriented, with strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Experience in aerospace, defense, or medical fields (often preferred).
Desired Skills
J-STD-001 and/or IPC 620 certification or equivalent experience; lapsed certification within 4 years may be acceptable.
Experience with AS9100 or ISO 13485 quality systems.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
