Seasonal Parks Engineering Aide - 2026

Under the immediate direction of the Civil Engineer or Engineer Technician, performs work of simple complexity on engineering projects for the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department.
Responsibilities
Assists Civil Engineer or Park Planner with basic, manual and CAD drafting assignments as directed, reviews and inspects construction documents, assists with project filing.
Gathers field data for projects and planning, assist the Department of Public Works on engineering surveys for Park projects, updates park base maps, assists with playground planning.
Qualifications
Enrolled in Engineering program, with preference given to those enrolled in Civil Engineering.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Skills and Experience
Good communication skills including ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately.
Considerable ability to learn quickly and perform tasks accurately.
Basic computer skills with knowledge and experience with CAD being desirable.
Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) desired.
May be required to demonstrate minimum competency by successfully passing approved tests.
Physical Requirements Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, crawling, stooping and digging.
Ability to climb and walk in rough terrain.
Ability to work in varied environmental conditions.
Ability to focus for long periods of time on projects.
