Summary Scales Operators
are responsible for managing the weighing and recording of materials entering and leaving an oil mill facility. Their duties include ensuring accurate weight measurements, tracking product quantities, and maintaining documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Weighing Operations
Operate scale systems to weigh inbound and outbound vehicles, raw materials (e.g., cottonseeds), and finished products (oil, meal, etc.).
Ensure accurate weight readings and maintain calibration of weighing equipment.
Enter and verify data from weight tickets into the system.
Documentation and Record Keeping
Generate and maintain accurate records of all weights, including date, time, vehicle identification, material type, and weight.
Issue and store weight certificates for deliveries and shipments.
Report discrepancies or irregularities in weight records.
Coordination with Departments
Communicate with operations, laboratory, and logistics teams to coordinate material movements.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and government regulations regarding transportation and material handling.
Monitor and maintain a clean and organized scale area.
Customer Service
Assist drivers with loading/unloading instructions and provide accurate documentation.
Address inquiries related to material weight and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Equipment Maintenance
Report any scale malfunctions to the IT Department and supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities
Cross-training with guard shack attendant is required.
Train and support seasonal/temporary employees during dump season.
Complete additional duties upon the supervisor's request.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic computer skills (familiarity with data entry systems and spreadsheet software).
Attention to detail and high accuracy in recording weights.
Good communication skills and ability to work with various teams.
Previous experience in a manufacturing or logistics setting, especially with weighing systems, is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of safety standards and procedures related to industrial facilities.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a production environment that may involve exposure to noise, dust, and fluctuating temperatures.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs when necessary.
