Standing or walking with objects up to 25 lbs; Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods; Repetitive motion. May be exposed to loud noises, fumes, confined spaces, and/or weather/temperature extremes while on or traveling to/from various job sites.
Shift:
7:30am 4:00pm (Monday-Friday). Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors, emergencies, and/or crisis management requiring night(s), weekend(s), and holiday(s) response. Note: The Controls Engineering Technician may be subject to ‘on-call’ rotation assignment.
Job Summary
Provides technical expertise in implementing and maintaining seamlessly integrated Building Automation System (BAS)/Energy Management System, including:
Building controls
Graphical User Interface
Swisslog
Critical Research Equipment Monitoring
Utility Metering
Heating/Cooling Plant Controls
Fire Alarms
Elevator Monitoring
Supports systems installed for BAS/Security/Fire Alarm/Elevator/Swisslog databases
Performs necessary communication, maintenance, upgrades, and programming
Ensures programming and sequence changes to building controls systems are backed up daily to protect data and avoid catastrophic loss
Supports HVAC, Maintenance, and Controls Technicians in troubleshooting building system problems involving Security, Swisslog, Fire Alarm, and Elevator System
Provides system data and consults with other technicians/vendors while troubleshooting problems in network systems, BAS, Security, Fire Alarms, Elevators, and Swisslog
Collaborates and supports customers and clients, including UKPD, Security, FIS, IT, Utilities, Facilities Campus, Facilities Medical Center, et al.
Creates and provides programming input and interactive use, including dashboard, etc.
Additional Responsibilities
Creates Graphical User Interface for BAS
Adds new buildings/plants/controls systems to the Building Automation System (BAS), Security, Fire Alarm, and Elevator Monitoring Systems
Comes online for UK HealthCare, UK Campus, Utility Plants, and Medical Center Complex
Creates new screens, as required
Installs new control points
Writes and/or completes programming
Utilizes eFacts, NLSS, Lenel, Tridium, Swisslog, and other software programs to compile, trend, and distribute data to users
Maintains points on energy management systems from logs/reports and initiates setbacks when applicable
Completes hardware, wiring configuration, trending, sequencing, and alarming installations
The Controls Engineering Technician models and promotes excellent customer service for internal and external customers; and delivers value-added, cost-effective performance in meeting and/or exceeding customer requirements.
Multiple Positions Available Skills / Knowledge / Abilities: MS Windows/Office; MS Project; SAP; KRONOS
Demonstrated knowledge of specialized measurement and control equipment providing vital information to indicate machines, equipment, and technical systems are operating properly and safely.
Must possess electrical and mechanical skills and have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical literature; troubleshoot, and resolve technical controls problems in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Education / Experience Associate's Degree + 5 Years; Bachelor's Degree + 3 Years.
Preferred Certifications and Licenses Tridium AX/N4 Certification — Preferred.
Driver's License — Preferred.
