What You'll Do Behind the Machine
Perform the setup and operation of CNC machinery.
Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations.
Measure, mark, and indicate dimensions and reference points on the part or material as guides for machining.
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, including mills, lathes, and grinders.
Calculate and set machine controls to regulate speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.
Start machine operation, observe, and adjust to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
Verify conformance of finished parts to ensure they meet specifications.
Confer with production personnel, supervisors, and others to resolve machining or assembly issues.
Perform daily maintenance duties and report equipment-related issues requiring attention.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Perform dimensional inspections on in-process parts.
